Dryer Fault Codes

Fault codes can and do vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, even between models from the same manufacturer these codes may well be different. This guide is designed only as a generalized guide and is not intended to replace your owners manual, if you have problems always check the owners manual first, it may well have the information you need and will be specific to your Appliance. We assume no responsibility for any action you may undertake as a result of using this guide.

Failure Code Condition Check/Repair
“F1″ Condensate drain overfilling Check condensate reservoir pump and drain tube.
“F2″ Maximum drying time exceeded (3hrs) · Check for tripped circuit breaker or blown fuse
· Check ductwork for lint build-up
· Check hi-limit and cycling thermostat
· Check heating element
“F3″ Thermistor fault · Open thermistor, replace
· Bad wiring to thermistor
“F4″ Too much lint in the lint filter, front housing, or in the condenser Clean lint from lint filter and/or condenser
“F5″ Fault in the moisture sensor · Lint covering sensor in front of housing
· Bad sensor
· Bad wiring to sensor

“L” persists in washer display Lid lock failure Replace switch, linkage, lock solenoid or control board.
“U” occurs for no reason in display Unbalanced load Unbalance switch or control board
“1E” persists in washer display Lid lock failure Replace lid lock switch or control board.
“6E” appears in dryer display Temp control error Ambient (room) temperature too cool, -or-
· thermistor
· wire harness
· control board
“7E” appears in dryer display Temp control error – overheating Check:
· venting for restriction
· thermistor
· control board
· cycling thermostat (regular)
“8E” appears in dryer display Motor relay circuit Check:
· relay coil

“9E” appears in dryer display Door switch failure Check door switch wiring or door switch or control board

Failure Code Condition Check/Repair
“PF” Power Failure If the household power goes off and the control board was in RUN mode or PAUSE mode, the electronic control board will display a power failure error code.
“E1″ or “E2″ Thermistor Failure The dryer will not operate if the exhaust temperature drops below 18°F. or exceeds 250°F.

When the thermistor circuit is open (>50K ohms), the error code “E1″ flashes in the display.

When the thermistor circuit is shorted (<500 ohms), the error code “E2″ flashes in the display.

Normal thermistor resistance values:
60°F. – 15.3K ohms.
70°F. – 11.9K ohms.
80°F. – 9.2K ohms.
“E3″ Touchpad or Software mismatch Flashes when there is a touchpad or software mismatch. NOTE: This error code is displayed only in diagnostics mode.
