Maintenance & Use Suggestions
- We recommend letting a NEW or newly stained deck weather for 1-2 months before using/leaving the grill pad on the deck.
- As with any appliance used on a deck, please remove after long exposure to water (rain/sprinklers) so your deck can fully dry. Water stains may occur where moisture is allowed to pool.
- Allow a minimum of 24” from your heat source and the appliance. Excessive heat can cause burning, melting, crumbling or cracking. (Not to exceed 200 degrees)
- Failure to adhere to the 24”/200 degree minimum could cause heat damage to your property. (Please see your warranty/disclaimer notice)
Return Qualifications
Reasons for return/credit
- It wasn’t the color/shade I thought it would be.
- The product can be returned for credit with a 25% restocking fee.
- Product burned/melted.
- What appliance were you using it with?
- What is the distance between the bottom of the heat source and the deck/pad? (see warranty and disclaimer)
- They should also check their appliance manufactures recommendations for clearance from heat source to deck.
- I need a larger product.
- The 30 x 42 rectangle is the largest coverage we make. You can consider utilizing (2) pads side by side, or end to end.
- Product is cracked.
- Was this before or after use? (Before: was there any noted crush to the packaging? If so, a claim may need to be filed with the delivery carrier.)
- How and where are you utilizing the pad? (It is not made to be used as a rug or where it will get foot traffic)
- Did they attempt to roll/fold it for storage, or put it over the railing of the deck? It is flexible, but it will break.
RE: USE WITH COMPOSITE DECKING
**Any questions surrounding exotic woods or composite decking can be referred
to Diversitech Corp, 866.474.5572 , but the information below should help
you to be able to handle general usage calls.
“One of the issues with synthetic decking (Composite Decking, Trex,
Evergrain, Weather Best, Fiberon, etc) and some exotic woods is the density
of the material. Traditional wood decking allows for moisture to absorb into
and or evaporate rather quickly. Since the grill pad (and any other deck
appliance, i.e. flower pots, etc.) will slow natural evaporation by covering
the wet surface area, there is a tendency to water mark under or around the
edges of any product on the deck. This is a natural occurrence and is not
the fault of the grill pad. You should check and remove after a heavy water
exposure due to rain or sprinklers. We also recommend an aging time of 1-2
months for new decks to allow for natural changes relative to elements exposure.
Any product such as the grill pad placed on a new deck will protect that
area from natural fading and could cause a coloration difference to occur.
This will correct itself in time when the pad is removed and the protected
area is given a chance to the same weathering as the rest of the deck had.”
Exclusions and Limitations:
The “Original” Grill Pad is intended to be used exclusively
for outdoor, recreational purposes under residential grills and “Chimineas” which
are supported at least 24” above the deck surface. Follow all manufacturers’ instructions
regarding the placement and use of the specific device used with The “Original” Grill
Pad. As with any object resting in one place for extended periods, weather
and exposure conditions of the area protected by The “Original” Grill
Pad will differ from those for the surrounding area not under the pad. Therefore,
you may notice differences in appearance between the area directly under
The “Original” Grill Pad and surrounding, unprotected areas upon
removal of the pad. The “Original” Grill Pad may discolor unsealed,
uncured decks made from certain species of wood or composite decking material.
To minimize the occurrence of discoloring on these species and materials,
do not allow the area beneath The “Original” Grill Pad to remain
wet for extended periods. Seal hardwoods before installing The “Original” Grill
Pad. Allow all wood or surface sealers or stains to cure a minimum of 30
days before placement of the “Original” Grill Pad. The “Original” Grill
Pad is designed to protect your deck, patio, porch, or dock from incidental
spark exposure as well as grease, drips and stains. The “Original” Grill
Pad is NOT fireproof and is intended for outdoor use only!
